
Orange Face Two ITA Ranked Teams This Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Â The No. 67 ITA ranked Syracuse women's tennis team (8-5, 1-5 ACC) travels down south to play No. 29 Georgia Tech (8-7, 2-3 ACC) on Friday, March 21 at 4 p.m. followed by a match up against No. 31 Clemson (11-5, 1-3 ACC) on Sunday, March 23 at 12 p.m.
Syracuse has competed against four ITA ranked teams prior to this weekend's matchup, with two of them being ranked in the top 10.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is coming off a 10-11 campaign last spring. The Orange returned four players from last year's team this fall and welcomed two newcomers.
- Miyuka Kimoto is back for her senior year with the Orange after racking up 11 doubles and 10 singles victories in the spring. She earned her first ACC Player of the Week Award last March and was tabbed No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason singles rankings.
- Also back as a senior for the Orange is Shiori Ito, who checked in at No. 44 in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings alongside Kimoto. She has won 31 career dual singles contests and to go along with her 27 doubles victories.
- Anastasia Sysoeva returns for her second year with 'Cuse as a junior. In her debut campaign last year, she finished with a 12-6 record in singles, which included six wins against ACC opponents.
- Another returning junior for the Orange is Constance Levivier, who tallied six wins last spring across singles and doubles.
- Syracuse welcomes two fresh faces this fall - Nelly Knezkova and Serafima Shastova. Knezkova earned All-Big West Second Team honors in singles last season at Hawaii, where she played the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. In her one year at Jacksonville State, Shastova won 12 singles contests on her way to earning First Team All-ASUN and ASUN Freshman of the Year honors.
- Joining the Orange for the Spring season are two freshmen, Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim.
- Head coach Younes Limam returns for his 11th season at the helm of the Orange. Jacqueline Calla is in her second season as an assistant coach.
- No.74 ranked ITA doubles pairing Shastova and Wojcik won for the fifth time together against the Golden Bears and tallied the only win in doubles for the Orange.
- Sysoeva and Kimoto have each faced four ITA ranked opponents in singles play.
- Shastova won in singles due to a retirement. She improved to 7-2 in singles.
- Syracuse is 44-27 in singles in its first 13 matches. Â
- The Orange have at least six wins at five different singles positions
- Ito has competed at four different singles positions this season while Levivier and Shastova have competed at three.
- Wojcik has the team-best nine wins in singles. Knezkova follows with eight, then Ito and Shastova with seven. All nine of Wojcik's wins have come from the Nos. 5 and 6 positions. Â
- Syracuse has played 12 different doubles pairings this season.
- Shastova and Wojcik each have eight doubles wins to pace the Orange. Followed by Sysoeva with seven.
- The Orange have won seven out of 13 doubles points since losing to James Madison on Jan. 25.
- Overall, Syracuse is 21-15 in doubles play this season with 11 of 12 pairings having contributed at least one victory.
- Kimoto and Knezkova earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
- Kimoto and Knezkova were ranked No. 55 in doubles by ITA alongside Shastova and Wojcick who ranked No. 74 on Tuesday, March 4.
- Syracuse freshmen Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim are 19-6 across doubles and singles this season.
- Wojcik is 9-2 in singles and has won a trio of sets with a 6-0 score.
- Kim made her college debut in the Fordham match, winning at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
- Wojick was awarded ACC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 4 after competing against Drexel. She won her first ever three-set singles match, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
- ITA ranked Georgia Tech No. 29 on Tuesday, March 18.
- Georgia Tech has an overall record of 8-7 and are 2-3 in conference play.
- The Yellow Jackets have a home-court advantage with the record of 5-2.
- Two Yellow Jackets earned their way in the ITA updated rankings on March 18. sophomore Scarlett Nicholson is ranked No. 83 in singles play and junior Alejandra Cruz ranked No. 97.
- Duo pairing Alejandra Cruz and Given Roach rank at No. 62 on ITA's list.
- Georgia Tech is coming off a 4-0 win against Old Dominion on Monday.
- Georgia Tech leads the Orange in the all-time series, 10-3. The last time the two met Syracuse lost 3-4.
- Clemson was ranked by the ITA as the No. 31 team this Tuesday.
- The Tigers will compete against Boston College on Friday, March 21 at home before hosting Syracuse.
- Sophia Hatton is ranked No. 124 in singles.
- Two of Clemson's doubles teams appeared in the rankings on March 18: Candela Yecors and Romana Cisovska at the No. 43 spot followed by Amelie Smejkalova and Gaia Parravicini ranked No. 80.
- The all-time series is tied 5-5 between the two teams.
