
Ward Breaks School Record in ACCT Loss

CHARLOTTE – Syracuse graduate student Emma Ward recorded her 165th career assist to become the Orange's all-time leader in that category in a 15-10 loss to Stanford in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.

Ward entered Wednesday's game tied with Katie Rowan for the school record for career assists. With her assist in the second quarter, Ward claimed sole possession of the top spot on the all-time leader list.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stanford (14-4) jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Syracuse fought back, scoring four unanswered goals for a 5-4 lead after the first quarter. The Orange (9-8) scoring run continued in the second quarter as Syracuse built an 8-5 advantage heading into intermission.

The Cardinal started its comeback in the second half, tallying five-straight goals after intermission to take the lead for good. Stanford continued to extend the lead in the fourth quarter and went on to the 15-10 victory.

Junior Gracie Britton had five points on three goals and two assists to lead the Syracuse offense. Sophomore Alexa Vogelman also had a hat trick.
