After Syracuse football logged its most NFL Draft selections since 2006, a number of 'Cuse stars have also signed as undrafted free agents shortly after the conclusion of the draft.
Tight end Oronde Gadsden II (fifth round – Chargers), quarterback Kyle McCord (sixth round – Eagles), running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (seventh round – Jaguars) and defensive end Fadil Diggs (seventh round – Saints) all heard their names called on Saturday during the draft.
Shortly following, a number of teams scooped up some of the talented players off last year's squad that win 10 games in head coach Fran Brown's first season.
Note: All signings are reported until confirmed by the franchise.
Defensive back Clarence Lewis signed with the Titans, his agency (Upper Edge Management). Lewis was a third team All-ACC selection this past season, his first with the Orange after transferring from Notre Dame. Lewis started every game at cornerback and was second in the ACC with 12 pass breakups.
Linebacker Justin Barron signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The wide receiver turned safety, who finished his career at linebacker, started 47 games and appeared in 62 during his time at Syracuse. A two-time All-ACC selection, Barron made 294 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in his time at SU, while also being a two-time team captain.
Defensive back Alijah Clark joins Barron in Dallas. Clark spent three years at Syracuse after transferring from Rutgers after his rookie season. He appeared in 44 games and made 187 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, recovered a pair of fumbles and forced another at SU.
Wide receiver Jackson Meeks has signed with the Detroit Lions. Meeks posted the sixth-most catches in Syracuse history this season and ranked second in the ACC in receiving yards (1,021), which was seventh in Syracuse history. The Georgia transfer won two national titles with the Bulldogs before transferring to Syracuse for his final season.
Offensive lineman Savion Washington is joining Gadsden in LA with the Chargers. The honorable mention All-ACC selection started every game at right tackle this season. He allowed just three sacks on 674 dropbacks, according to Pro Football Focus. Washington helped 'Cuse lead the nation in passing offense and Allen cross the 1,000-yard threshold on the ground.
Linebacker Marlowe Wax became the third member of the Orange to head to Los Angeles, also signing with the Chargers. Wax saw action in 57 games for 'Cuse, with 47 starts, concluding his time at Syracuse with 338 tackles, 42.0 tackles for loss, 21.0 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions. His 10 forced fumbles ranks second in school history behind Pro and College football Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney (14). He's also second to Freeney (50.5) in tackles for loss and fifth in program history in sacks.Â
Tight end Max Mang has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, where he'll team up with former Orange standout and the NFL's leading tackler in Zaire Franklin. Mang appeared in 61 games with the Orange, doing most of his damage as an exceptional blocker. Syracuse had a 1,000-yard rusher in each of his last four seasons on campus. Mang has nine career receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown. He also was a prominent special teamer throughout his Syracuse tenure.
Tom Callahan earned a camp invite to the Las Vegas Raiders. Callahan snapped for each of the past two seasons with the Orange, helping punter Jack Stonehouse set Syracuse's single-season net punting record in 2024.Â
