SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Orange will play their first ACC match up of the season by welcoming No.8 Stanford to the pitch on Saturday Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The match will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1985 Syracuse men's soccer Big East Championship team.

'Cuse Update

The Orange tied with New Haven 0-0 on Monday (Sept. 8) at home.
Syracuse offense dominated the charge, outshooting its opponent for the third game in a row, and retaining 68 percent of possession time. The Orange took eight corner kicks but fell short of netting the ball off them.
The Orange now hold a 0-2-2 record at home and a 2-2-2 record overall.

Scouting the Cardinal

Stanford comes off a 3-1 win over Saint Mary's on Tuesday (Sept. 9). Alfonso Tenconi-Gradillas recorded two goals in the match, while Trevor Islam added one to the board.
Islam leads the Cardinal with three goals this season and goalkeeper Rowan Schnebly accounts for 11 saves for the year.
The Cardinal was projected to end their season tied for fifth place according to the ACC pre-season poll.
Stanford was previously ranked at the No. 1 spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll before dropping to No. 8 after a conference loss to unranked Louisville.
In 2024, Stanford finished its first season in the ACC in seventh with a 3-2-3 conference record.

Series History

This match marks the first meeting between Syracuse and Stanford.
Stanford joined the ACC in 2024 and currently holds a 0-1 conference record after a loss to then unranked Louisville on the road (Sept. 5).
Syracuse is 0-2-2 at home, whereas Stanford is 1-1-0 on the road so far this season.
