PUCK DROP
- The Orange return to Tennity after a second consecutive weekend sweep over conference foes before they face #4 Penn State for their second series of the season.
- Syracuse last faced Penn State in the middle of November when they traveled down to Happy Valley, the Orange did not earn a point in the two-game series.
- 'Cuse is riding high on a four-game win streak that includes three consectutive shutouts so far in 2026, a huge momentum builder heading into a tough matchup against the current AHA Conference leader.
- Both games will be streamed on FloHockey as puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
SHUTOUT, SHUTDOWN
- The Orange had their fifth shutout of the season on Saturday night at Robert Morris.
- With the first shutout of the season on Oct. 18 against Delaware, the Orange saw their third consecutive shutout after holding the Colonials scoreless through the weekend.
- A name you can't hear enough, freshman Ava Drabyk was between the posts in the three consecutive shutouts and combined for a total of 54 saves the last three games.
-Â Drabyk is in the Top 15 for save percentage (.931) in the national stats and ranks right behind Maggie Hatch (RMU) for AHA goalies. Drabyk currently has 616 saves on the season, making an average of 26.78 saves a game.
- Drabyk has all five shutouts, ranking her fourth in the nation and second in AHA behind Penn State's Katie DeSa this season.
- Last year, the Orange tallied five clean sheets, four of them coming in regular season play.
SKATE WITH THE ORANGE RETURNS
- Skate with the Orange is back for another season!
- On Monday, January 19 the Syracuse women's ice hockey team will head to the Clinton Square outdoor skating rink. The annual event is slated for 1 p.m.
- Kids, fans, and families are invited out to Downtown Syracuse's idyllic outdoor skating rink, a location for outdoor winter fun that dates back to the days of the Erie Canal.
DRABYKÂ EARNS SECOND CONSECUTIVE AHA WEEKLY AWARD JAN. 13
- Freshman Ava Drabyk has been named to her third AHA Goaltender of the Week. This is her second consecutive AHA Weekly Award.
- Drabyk earns her fifth AHA weekly award for her perfect performance between the pipes against Robert Morris last weekend.
- Drabyk recorded two shutouts in Syracuse's road sweep of Robert Morris and led AHA goaltenders with a 0.00 goals-against average and a 1.000 save percentage.
- The netminder made 38 saves in the two contests and leads all Division I freshmen goaltenders with five shutouts this season.
AKANE HOSOYAMADA TO REPRESENT JAPAN IN WINTER OLYMPICS
- Akane Hosoyamada '15 was named to Team Japan as a defender for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games.
- Hosoyamada spent her collegiate career as an Orange and played five seasons after redshirtting her sophomore year. She played in 151 games and tallied 10 goals with 51 assists on the back line for 'Cuse.
- She represented Team Japan in the 2018 Pyeongchang and 2022 Beijing Winter Games where the team placed sixth, respectfully, in both games
