
Drabyk Named AHA Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University women's ice hockey team freshman Ava Drabyk has been named the AHA Rookie of the Week. The Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan earns her fourth AHA weekly award after holding Delaware to one goal on the weekend. Drabyk now leads all AHA goaltenders in weekly awards (2 Goaltender, 2 Rookie).
Drabyk led the AHA with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage in two games played. The freshman netminder also recorded her third collegiate shutout (third of the season), making 16 saves in a 4-0 Orange win to solidify the sweep of the Blue Hens. On the weekend, Drabyk made 29 saves between the pipes.
The other AHA weekly award recipients include Mercyhurst's Sofia Nuutinen (Forward), Sofia Ljung (Defenseman), and Tara Bach (Goaltender).
The Syracuse Orange head to Moon Township, PA, to take on Robert Morris this weekend. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will be streamed on FloHockey.
