Orange, Wolfpack Clash on National TV Sunday

Syracuse women's basketball heads to Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday looking to maintain its standing in the ACC when the Orange face NC State at 2 p.m. on The CW.
The Orange (21-5, 11-4 ACC) enter the matchup riding a two-game winning streak after holding off Clemson 68-64 last Sunday at the JMA Wireless Dome, with Sophie Burrows delivering a career-high 16 rebounds to go along with 19 points. Now Syracuse sets its sights on a Wolfpack program that has owned this series in recent years, winning the last nine meetings.
NC State leads the all-time series 13-4 and has reeled off nine consecutive wins over the Orange dating back to the 2016-17 season. The last time Syracuse defeated NC State was at The Dome on Jan. 12, 2017, and the Orange haven't won in Raleigh since Feb. 14, 2016. Despite the lopsided recent history, the Wolfpack's dominance hasn't always been dominant on the scoreboard — seven of the nine wins during the streak have been decided by 10 points or fewer.
A win Sunday would be historic in more ways than one. It would move Syracuse to 22-5 overall, 12-4 in ACC play, and 7-1 on the road in conference — further cementing one of the biggest turnarounds in the league this season after the Orange were picked to finish 13th in the ACC Preseason Poll.
Syracuse comes in with serious momentum and a balanced attack. Uche Izoje continues her case for ACC Rookie of the Year with a team-best 10 double-doubles, while Laila Phelia is scoring 15.2 points per game against conference opponents. Dominique Darius leads the team in assists and Burrows has emerged as the team's steadiest two-way player.
A win over the Pack would give Syracuse a Quad 1 victory — the NCSU sits at No. 24 in the NET — and a potential double-bye in the ACC Tournament within reach, the motivation Sunday couldn't be higher.
