The Syracuse men's rowing team held steady at No. 9 in the Varsity 8 in the third IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll of the 2026 season, released Tuesday, while making strong debuts in the first Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 and Team Points standings. The Orange checked in fourth in the 2V8 poll with 196 points, fifth in the 3V8 poll with 176 points and fifth in the Team Points standings with 224 points.
In the Varsity 8, Syracuse received 154 points, sitting one spot ahead of Yale and two behind Penn. Washington continues to lead the poll with 224 points and eight first-place votes, followed by California and Princeton.
The 2V8 poll is led by Harvard, which earned five first-place votes and 221 points, with Washington close behind at 220 points. Syracuse's fourth-place standing puts the Orange ahead of California, Dartmouth and Brown in that boat class. In the 3V8, Harvard swept all eight first-place votes and leads with 223 points, followed by Washington and California. The Team Points standings — which reflect cumulative program depth — have Washington at the top with 281 points, trailed by Harvard and a tie between California and Princeton. Syracuse's fifth-place ranking with 224 points reflects strength across all three boat classes.
The Orange will return to the water Saturday with a pair of marquee dual races. Syracuse will face No. 7 Dartmouth in the morning for the Packard Cup before turning its attention to No. 12 Boston University in the Conlan Cup in the afternoon and will wrap up racing against No. 19 Georgetown on Sunday to wrap up the weekend at the Lake Morey Invite.Â
