Two Syracuse runners finished in the scoring and two more advanced to their respective event finals to highlight the first night of the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Assaf Harari (29:43.93) placed seventh in the men's 10,000-meter run, followed one spot behind by Connor Ackley (29:44.45) to secure points for Syracuse. The pace was relatively slow before a quick pickup on the backstretch of the final lap, where Harari maintained his spot near the front and Ackley pushed into the scoring. Behind them, Peter Walsdorf (29:54.18) was 11th, followed by Louis Small (30:13.82) in 16th.
Selma Anderson added a top-10 finish for the women, crossing the line in 33:45.78. Emma Eastman was two spots behind Anderson, finishing in 34:08.93, and Madeline Heintz (35.06.91) was 19th. The 10ks were the only final on the track thus far of the event.
The Orange also saw multiple men advance to the final in the 1,500-meter run, albeit by vary different circumstances. Benne Anderson (3:46.04) earned an automatic qualifying spot out of the first heat by cruising to an early lead. He was able to jog across the line to advance by being a top-two finisher in his heat.
Drew Zundell had the opposite race in the third heat. Running in the fastest heat of the day, Zundell stayed near the front and finished third in his heat, making him the fastest finisher to qualify on time (3:40.36). Charles Guerrera (3:47.20) and Ben Gabelman (3:47.36) finished 16th and 17th, respectively.
Carmen Luisi set a personal-best time of 4:27.35 in the women's event, which earned her 29th.

Syracuse is back to compete in six different events on Friday at 5 p.m.
Freshman Indie Wallace-Persaud was the fastest rookie in the 200-meter dash. She placed 15th in the event (23.58 seconds).
