In his senior year, Jim Morrissey was an All-American captain for the Orange and helped lead the team to its 14th-straight NCAA Semifinal game. Overall he was a consistent player, ranking in all of SU’s career record books.
Jim is tied for 17th on the career goals list with 106. He is also tied for 18th on the career assists list with 70. These two combined statistics ranks him 18th on the career points list with 176.
Senior Year (1996): Tri-captain…All-American Honorable Mention…started in 14 games and played in all 15…scored 36 goals and had 27 assists…63 points was the second-highest on the team…recovered 59 groundballs, fourth most on the team…scored a career-high five goals and had two assists in the win over Towson…scored three or more goals in seven games…scored one goal in every NCAA tournament game…had two assists in first two tournament games against Army and UNC and had one against Princeton…played for the North in the North-South Collegiate All-Start Game.
Junior Year (1995):All-American Honorable Mention…third on team in scoring, with 31 goals and 25 assists…had a career-high five goals in the win over Pennsylvania and had four goals against Johns Hopkins…had three goals each against Towson, Brown, Rutgers and Loyola…started all 15 games.
Sophomore Year (1994): Team’s third leading scorer with 32 goals and 13 assists…started every game…had a career-high five goals in the win over Hobart…had three goals and two assists in the win over Duke.
Freshman Year (1993): Finished with 12 (7-5) points on 27 shots…had two goals in the win at Michigan State…also had two goals against Cornell…had two assists against Loyola.
High School: Attended Skaneateles High School…two-time All-American…three-sports star, playing lacrosse, hockey and soccer…all-time leading lacrosse scorer at Skaneateles (187 goals, 125 assists, 262 points) for Coach Ron Doctor…team captain as a senior…set a school record with 132 points (71-61)…attended Trinity-Pawling Prep in 1992m earned All-American honors and was MVP of the New England Division I Lacrosse Association.
Personal: Son of Judith and Gerald Morrissey…born October 9, 1972 in Auburn, N.Y. …uncle, Jim Morrissey, played lacrosse at SU in the late 50s…majored in political science.
