Freshman Year: Edelin missed the first 12 regular-season games because the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Subcommittee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement upheld the NCAA staff's decision to withhold him from those contests for violations of NCAA Bylaw 14.7.2 (Outside Competition). . .Edelin made his debut at PITTSBURGH on Jan. 18 and scored his first points as an Orangemen. . .He led the team in scoring in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament with 15 points against MANHATTAN and 20 points in SU's comeback win versus OKLAHOMA STATE. . .He posted a career high with three steals against KANSAS in the National Championship game. . .Edelin scored a career-high 26 points on 13-of-20 shooting in SU's victory at NOTRE DAME. . .Against SETON HALL, his first game at the Carrier Dome, he scored 11 points, recorded a career-high six assists, grabbed five rebounds and picked up two steals. . .Edelin scored double-digit points in five straight games. . .He scored a then-career high with 18 points in the Orangemen's win at WEST VIRGINIA. . .He set a career high with nine rebounds at RUTGERS.
Oak Hill Academy: Edelin spent the 2000-01 school year at Oak Hill Academy (Va.). . .He helped Coach Steve Smith’s team to a 33-0 record and a mythical national high school title. . .He was named the Warriors’ most valuable player after averaging 21.2 points, 8.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds a game.
Edelin earned all-tournament honors at the Holiday Prep Classic (Nev.), Glaxo-Wellcome Holiday Invitational (N.C.) and the St. James Invitational (Md.). . .He was the MVP at the Slam Dunk Challenge (N.Y.) and the National Hoops Classic (Ohio).
Edelin was a third-team Parade All-American and a third-team selection on the USA Today All-USA Boys Basketball Team. . He was picked a sixth-team High School All-American by Bob Gibbons All-Star Report. . .He participated in Sonny Vaccaro’s Roundball Classic (Ill.) and the Coca-Cola All-American Classic (Nev.) in April.
In June of 2001, Edelin played for the U.S. in the National 18 & Under World Championships, held in Douai, France. . .The U.S. squad won the event for the first time. . .Edelin had 22 points and eight assists in the title game, a 102-99 victory against Canada.
Edelin enrolled in Syracuse University last fall but was suspended in October for the remainder of the school year. . .His petition for readmission was approved in June.
High School: He was part of back-to-back 28-5 clubs at DeMatha High School (Md.) in 1998-99 and 1999-00. . .Edelin was coached by the legendary Morgan Wootten.
