Miles Hagmeyer joined the Syracuse men’s rowing program as an assistant coach in August 2023.
Hagmeyer began his coaching career at Forest Hills Eastern High School and Northern High School (a joint rowing program) as the varsity rowing coach in 2022. He held this position until moving to join the Orange.
At Forest Hills, Hagmeyer took the reins of a crew with no top-five placements at the state championship regatta the year before. Through his leadership, the team saw a silver medal in the men’s 4+, and two fourth-place finishes, one in the men’s 8+ and the other in the men’s 2-.
Prior to coaching, Hagmeyer served as a laboratory assistant for the Perrigo Pharmaceutical Company. His responsibilities included logging of raw material pharmaceuticals, as well as assisting in chemical quality control experiments.
A 2023 graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, Hagmeyer was a varsity rower from 2017-2022. He represented Grand Valley State at the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England, and at Head of the Charles in Boston. He was named freshman captain and trained alongside the Greek national team in Kastoria, Greece during his time in the program. He graduated from the Frederik Meijer Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences.
Hagmeyer spent time in 2020 volunteering for the Justice for Black Lives Organization, managing the organization’s social media accounts to educate and grow awareness around racial discrimination.
Hagmeyer is a US Rowing Level 2 certified coach.
