Former Syracuse oarsman Stephen Hoskins returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach on Aug. 6, 2018 and served in that role until June 2020. Hoskins previously served as an assistant coach for the US Rowing's U17 Junior National Team in Sarasota, Fla. While with the U17 squad, he coached and developed athletes through a training camp and racing environment.

As an assistant coach at George Washington from 2016-2018, Hoskins assisted in training, race preparation and team operations for the Colonials' men's rowing program. In 2016, he coached the fourth varsity eight to a sixth-place finish at Eastern Sprints. In 2017, he began coaching the third varsity eight in which the Colonials placed 12th at Eastern Sprints and 15th at the IRA Championship. Â

This past season, Hoskins coached GW's 3V8+ to a 12th-place finish at Eastern Sprints.

Hoskins began his coaching career as the novice assistant coach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C., during the fall of 2015. He then assisted in coaching the U23 men's team at Thompson Boat Center in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2016.

Hoskins was a member of the men's rowing team at Syracuse from 2011-15. As a senior, he was honored with the team's David D. Godfrey Award.

He continued his rowing career with Thompson Boat Center (TBC) as a member of the U23 Open Men's crew. During his time with TBC, he guided the U23 lightweight 4- to a fifth-place finish at the Royal Canadian Henley and a sixth-place finish in the U23 lightweight 2- in 2015. Additionally, he was a member of TBC's Intermediate 8+ crew that finished fifth at 2014 US Rowing Club Nationals and the Senior 8+ squad that placed sixth.

Hoskins graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in civil engineering from the College of Engineering and Computer Science in 2015. He holds a US Rowing Level II Coaching Certification.
