John Riese joined the Orange coaching staff in November of 2011. Riese works with all aspects of the SU program.
Riese, who graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2009, was a four-year letterwinner while earning his Bachelor's degree in education and history. He returns to SU where we previously completed an internship with current assistant coach Dave Hegland where he observed and interacted with both the men's and women's sprint and hurdle groups on the track and in the weight room. In addition, he assisted in academic achievement with the Orange while earning his Master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in exercise science.
Riese has earned a variety of certifications, including becoming certified by the National Strength and Condition Association and the Level 1 USATF Coaching Association. Riese was also a featured clinician at Cortland State and SUNY Cortland Track & Field training camps, where he demonstrated proper warm-ups, discussed proper nutrition, and taught athletes about proper development and weight-lifting skills.
