Lynn Dew was named the Coordinator of Player Development in the summer of 2010. Dew will supervise all aspects of the student-athletes’ welfare, including academic, personal, social and physical well-being. Dew rejoins the athletic department after serving as program coordinator of Syracuse University’s NY GEAR UP program, a federally-funded grant program that exposes the Syracuse City School District’s Class of 2011 to higher educational opportunities.
Dew previously worked in Syracuse University’s athletic academic support services department in a variety of capacities. From 2006-09, she acted as a tutor/mentor, providing academic support for at-risk student-athletes. She is particularly interested in the transition from high school to college, especially for those students who have felt marginalized in the classroom.
Dew also served as an academic coordinator to five football student-athletes in 2009, helping them to correspond with faculty, register for the proper classes and assess their classroom progress. While serving as a graduate assistant of athletic academic support services from 2007-08, she aided in monitoring study hall sessions and facilitated tutoring and mentoring appointments.
Dew is the mother of three children: Bruce, a senior Biology major at the College of the Holy Cross; Kelley, a sophomore nursing student at Nazareth College; and Sawyer, a junior at Fayetteville-Manlius High School. She is married to Bruce Dew, Jr.
Dew earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ithaca College in 1985. She is currently finishing up her master’s degree in cultural foundations of education at Syracuse.
