
Syracuse to Play Connecticut in BIG EAST Field Hockey Tournament Semifinals Friday, November 3, at 5 p.m.

Connecticut, with an undefeated league mark (5-0) claimed the top seed and the regular season league title. Rutgers topped Boston College, 3-2, on Oct. 28 to finish 3-2 in league play and earn the No. 2 seed. BC, Providence and Syracuse each finished 2-3 in the BIG EAST. By virtue of the league's tie-breaking policies, PC claimed the No. 3 spot, with the Orangewomen taking the fourth seed.
Syracuse (12-7) is the No. 17-ranked team in the country this week, according to the STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
Connecticut (14-6) is ranked 10th. The two teams are the only squads to have qualified for each of the 12 league championships. The Huskies have brought home four championship crowns, while SU has claimed two (1993 and 1995). Last season, Connecticut defeated Syracuse, 2-0, in the championship game at Coyne Field.
In related field hockey news, the national statistics were released today. Syracuse is tied for 11th in the nation in scoring defense (1.15 goals per game). Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) is second in the nation in save percentage (.872), sixth in total saves (156) and 12th in goals against average (1.15).
