SU senior co-captain Candy Reich (Pembroke, Mass./Silver Lake Regional) teamed up with sophomore Nina Scalzo (Webster, N.Y./Webster) to tie the game at 1-1 at 57:06. With her back to the goal, Reich one-timed a pass from Scalzo at the top of the box past ‘Nova keeper Janel Schillig for her fourth goal of the year. Graduate student Erin Parson (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) also earned an assist on the play.
Despite continued pressure from the Syracuse offense, Villanova capitalized on its next offensive opportunity when sophomore Janessa Jeltema beat a downed Myers for the game-winning goal at 75:19.
