
Shumpert's Shooting Leads Orange Past Binghamton, 103-56

SYRACUSE, NY -- Senior forward Preston Shumpert tied a career high with 36 points as Syracuse defeated Binghamton, 103-56.
SU took control right from the start with a slam dunk by Shumpert in the opening seconds of the game. Syracuse scored 21 unanswered points midway through the first half to take a 24-point lead, 37-13, with 5:55 left on the clock. By halftime, Shumpert had recorded 19 points.
The Orangemen extended their lead in the second half, going ahead by as much as 49 points before the final margin was determined. SU reached the 100-point mark for the first time since a 105-75 triumph against Albany on Dec. 5, 2000. The 47-point spread was the program's largest in three seasons. The Orangemen defeated Colgate, 93-40, on Nov. 17, 1998.
Shumpert was 13-of-18 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range for the game. Junior guard DeShaun Williams scored 15 points, and freshman guard Josh Pace and junior guard Kueth Duany recorded double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Freshman forward Hakim Warrick pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and chipped in seven points, both career high totals.
