Duany's Double Pushes SU Past DePaul

SYRACUSE, NY -- Junior guard DeShaun Williams scored 25 points and junior forward Kueth Duany recorded his first career double-double to lead Syracuse to a 74-60 win against DePaul in the second round of the Preseason NIT.
Williams was 9-of-21 from the field and 5-of-11 from three-point range. Duany tallied two personal bests with his 17 points and 12 rebounds.
DePaul took an early 10-4 lead before Syracuse raced off on a 19-3 run, a streak that included three consecutive three-pointers by Williams. He had 11 points overall in the stretch, and SU took a 23-13 advantage with 8:25 left in the first half.
DePaul's Imari Sawyer answered with a 10-point run of his own to bring the Blue Demons within two points of the lead, 25-23. Syracuse answered with six straight points and stayed ahead at the half, 33-26.
SU put the game away in the second half with a 21-6 run to take an 18-point lead, 63-45 with 7:20 remaining in the contest. Williams scored 10 points and Duany added eight in the seven-minute stretch.
Sophomore guard James Thues scored five points, dished out a career-high eight assists and played a personal-best 33 minutes.
