Senior goalkeeper Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) of the Syracuse University field hockey team was named to the 2002 STX/NFHCA Division I All-America First Team. She is the Orangewomen's first selection to the All-America First Team since Jodi Carter in 1995. Overall, Latsko becomes Syracuse's 11th field hockey player to earn All-American honors, only the fourth to be included on the prestigious first team. In 2000, she was voted to the All-American Third Team.
This is the latest in a long list of awards for Latsko this season. Last week, it was announced that she had been selected to the STX/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region First Team. On Nov. 7, she was honored as The BIG EAST Conference's Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
Latsko played every minute in goal for the Orangewomen this season. She recorded eight shutouts and allowed just 1.10 goals per game. She finished her career ranked second on SU's career saves list with 492.
In 2002, Latsko led the nation in save percentage (.855) and was fifth in goals against average (1.10).
She helped lead the Orangewomen to their 14th-straight appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament. Syracuse lost a 1-0 overtime decision to Connecticut in the semifinals and posted a 10-11 record overall.
