The closest match of the afternoon was at No. 1 doubles. SU’s top tandem, seniors Masha Kabanova and Shervin Saedinia held a 7-4 lead over Yale’s Elizabeth Kaufman and Karlyn Martin. But the Bulldogs won the next five games to take a 9-7 victory over Syracuse on Senior Day.
Daniela Kaluskova and Kristine Bech Holte were also playing their final matches for the Orange. Kaluskova, who transferred to Syracuse last season, will graduate in May, and Holte, a sophomore, was accepted to the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. A pre-med major, Holte will leave for Europe at the end of the semester.
Syracuse (8-7 overall, 4-2 BIG EAST) plays its final two matches of the regular season on Saturday, April 12 against Army, and on April 13 against BIG EAST foe St. John’s. The Orangewomen will compete in the BIG EAST Championships, April 25-27, in Coral Gables, Fla.
