Okantey was a NCAA All-American at SU in the indoor and outdoor triple jump in 1999, setting school records that still stand in both events. He jumped 54-1 indoors and 54-11 outdoors to set the records He was also the BIG EAST indoor triple jump champion and outdoor triple and long jump champion. Okantey was also the Mid-American Conference triple jump champion when he competed for Central Michigan University.
Since graduating from Syracuse, Okantey's international career highlights include top finishes throughout meets in Germany, France, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain. Okantey was second at the African Championships in 2000 and qualified for the 2000 Olympics, competing for Ghana, where he is a citizen.
Okantey will be competing for a club that has produced seven individual national champions, one world champion and one American record since 1998.
