Men's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at BIG EAST Championships

BOSTON, N.Y. – The Syracuse men’s cross country team finished fifth at the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Oct. 29. It was the men’s best finish since 1985, when they finished fourth. The women’s team took 10th place, up two spots from last year’s 12th-place finish.
Junior Chris Muldoon was the Orange’s first runner and finished in 26th place with a time of 24:51. Freshman Kyle Heath finished in 36th place with a time of 25:07 and junior John Graham finished three seconds behind him in 39th place. Rounding out SU’s top five were sophomores Matt Lawson and David Wishart in 45th and 50th, respectively.
Freshman Liz Cufari paced the women with a 22nd-place finish with a time of 21:32. Senior Leah Folmsbee and junior Gabrielle Charbonneau had solid contributions with 49th- and 59th-place finishes. Freshman Kathleen Sanborn and sophomore Shelby Perkins finished 77th and 78th, respectively, to round out the women’s top five.
The Providence women captured first and Notre Dame took top honors for the men.
The Orange prepares for the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 13 and the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Nov. 20, both in Bronx, N.Y.
