WORCESTER, MASS. - The No. 20 Syracuse University men's varsity eight finished fourth in the third level final at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 15, on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. SU's JV eight finished third in the petite final, the Orange freshman eight won the third level final and the second freshman eight finished fourth in the grand final.

The Orange's top boat, seeded 14th in the competition, finished sixth in its morning heat with a time of 5:54.57. In the third level final, SU finished fourth behind Pennsylvania, Rutgers and Georgetown with a time of 5:52.98.

Syracuse's 11th-seeded JV eight placed fourth in its morning heat with a time of 6:05.40 to advance to the petite final. In the afternoon race, SU finished third with a time of 5:52.77. The Orange's time was just six seconds slower than Boston University, who won the race. Pennsylvania finished second, crossing the line just two seconds before Syracuse.

After placing fifth in its morning heat with a time of 6:05.10, the 11th-seeded Orange freshman eight recorded a time of 5:57.37 in the third level final. SU defeated Dartmouth, Rutgers and MIT.

Syracuse’s second freshman eight seeded sixth competed in the morning race finishing third with a time of 6:15.68 to advance to the afternoon grand finals. SU finished fourth in the grand finals with a time of 6:06.64. Brown finished first with a time of 5:53.7, followed by Harvard, Navy and Syracuse.

Syracuse will compete at the IRA Regatta, June 2-4, in Camden, N.J.
