Men's Basketball Signs Nation's Second-Best Recruiting Class

Syracuse - Syracuse head men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim has announced that Johnny Flynn, Donte Greene, Rick Jackson, and Antonio Jardine have all signed national letters-of-intent to play for the Orange next season. Syracuse’s projected 2007 recruiting class is rated second, behind only Kansas State, by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
Flynn, a 5-11, 170, guard, from Niagara Falls, is enrolled at Niagara Falls High School. As a junior, he was named Western New York Player of the Year by the Buffalo News after he averaged 27.1 points, 5.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds and led the Saints to a third-consecutive New York State Public School Class AA final. As a sophomore, Flynn teamed with current Syracuse freshman Paul Harris to guide Niagara Falls to a 28-1 record, a number-three ranking in USA Today, and a state class AA Federation title. Flynn played his AAU basketball with the GC Ballers of Buffalo. Flynn is the fourth-ranked point guard and is 21st overall by Rivals.com. He is rated 28th by Scout.com. He is the 15th-ranked player in the Bob Gibbons All-Star Report.
Greene, a 6-9, 217, forward, from Baltimore, attends Towson Catholic High School. As a junior, he averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four blocks, and led Towson Catholic to the Maryland Interscholastic Association A final. He was named to the Baltimore Sun All-Metro first team. Greene was a member of the Team Melo AAU squad, which was formed by Baltimore native and former SU standout Carmelo Anthony. He is rated 15th by Scout.com. He is the third-ranked small forward and is 13th overall according to Rivals.com. He is the eighth-ranked player in the Bob Gibbons All Star Report.
This past summer, Flynn and Greene were members of the USA Basketball Men’s Under-18 National Team that won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in San Antonio. Flynn averaged 8.5 points and 5.2 assists, while Greene added 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in the four-game tournament.
Jackson, a 6-9, 235, forward, and Jardine, a 6-1, 180, guard, are both from Philadelphia and play for Neumann-Goretti High School. The duo led the Saints to the Philadelphia Catholic League championship and a number-24 ranking in the final 2006 USA Today poll. Jackson averaged 15 points and was named AP All-State Class AAAA second team.
Jackson and Jardine were teammates this summer on Team USA at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany. Jackson led the team with 17.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, while Jardine averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and a team-best 1.3 assists. In the seventh-place game against host Germany, Jackson scored a game high 25 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked five shots, while Jardine scored 23 points to go along with five rebounds and five steals, as the U.S. team won, 106-82.
Jackson is rated 48th by Scout.com. He is the 28th-ranked power forward and is 98th overall by Rivals.com. He is ranked 34th by the Bob Gibbons All Star Report. Jardine is rated 66th by Scout.com and is the 15th-ranked shooting guard and is 58th overall according to Rivals.com. He is the 68th-ranked player in the Bob Gibbons All Star Report.
The National Letter-of-Intent signing period ends on Wednesday, November 15.
