Orange Closes Out Fall Schedule With the Syracuse Invitational

Syracuse, N.Y.- The Syracuse men's rowing team ended its fall season as the host of the Syracuse Invitational. Cornell, Rochester, Hobart, Colgate, Connecticut. Marist, and Coast Guard joined the Orange in the event. In the men's four, the Syracuse A boat finished second (17:50.87) behind Cornell A (17:45.41). The Orange had two other boats in the race, with the B boat coming in sixth (18:34.87) and the C boat placing 12th (19:03.19). The Syracuse D boat won the B Flight four race (18:28.26), followed by the F boat in third (18:54.84) and the E boat in sixth (19:14.75). The invitational also featured a freshman eight race, which Syracuse had one boat entered in and came in fourth place (17:53.66).
"This event is an opportunity for crews to come together and split their teams into fours and really evaluate talent," head coach Dave Reischman said. "It started with Syracuse and Cornell, but now we have invited some of the smaller upstate New York schools and its a great event for us all to participate together."
The Orange has concluded the fall portion of its schedule. Syracuse will hit the water next on April 14th when it hosts Rutgers in the Ten Eyck Cup.
"We had a really breakout season last year," Reischman said. "We had an undefeated cup season and bring back six members of that varsity eight. We have a sophomore and a transfer student who have really proved themselves and could be a part of that boat. The other teams in our league really haven't lost much from last year, so it should be an exciting season."
