
Field Hockey Signs Three for 2006

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University field hockey coach Kathleen Parker announced the signing of three recruits who will join the Orange in the fall of 2006. The three members of the 2006 recruiting class are Kim Coyle (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake H.S.), Michelle Davis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick H.S.), and Shanna Muscavage (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico H.S.).
Coyle was a four-year member of the James Hubert Blake High School field hockey team. In 2005 as a senior midfielder, she led her squad to a 14-4-1 record, tallied nine goals and seven assists. For her career, she recorded 22 goals and 18 assists. She played four years with the Washington Wolves Hockey Club, serving as captain during the 2005 season. Coyle was named to the 2005 Montgomery County All-Stars Second Team and received her squad’s Coach’s Award in her freshman, junior, and senior seasons.
Davis played four seasons with Warwick High School as both a forward and a back. During her senior year, her team earned section and district titles and reached the state semifinals, posting a 25-4-1 record. It was a school record for number of wins. The team also set a record for number of goals scored during the season (77). Davis was named a first-team all-star.
Muscavage was a four-year member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams at Cocalico High School. Her field hockey team won three consecutive Section II championships from 2003-05. As a senior back, Muscavage served as a captain and was named a first-team all-star of the Lancaster Lebanon League. She also garnered second-team all-state recognition. She served as president of her class during her sophomore, junior, and senior years and was a member of the National Honor Society.
The SU field hockey team finished the 2005 season with an 11-9 record, a 3-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The Orange advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament Championship where it lost a 4-1 decision to Villanova at Rutgers on Nov. 4.
