HANOVER, N.H.- The SU men’s rowing team won all three races against Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. on Saturday morning. The Orange's varsity eight pulled away from Dartmouth to claim the Packard Cup for the first time since 1990. The win also marks an undefeated regular season for the eighth-ranked varsity eight.

The varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course on the Connecticut River with an impressive time of 5:46.3, well ahead of Dartmouth who finished in 6:10.6. Dartmouth had won the race against the Orange for 15 straight years.

Members of the varsity eight for SU were sophomore Ryan Armstrong (Andover, Mass.), senior Terry Wilkin (King of Prussia, Pa.), junior Tim Mambort (Toledo, Ohio), junior Dave Barone (Maumee, Ohio), senior Dan O’Shaughnessy (Elizabethtown, Ontario), junior Bartosz Szczyrba (Poznan, Poland), junior Justin Stangel (Madison, Wisc.), junior Matt Morrow (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and junior Chad Taylor (New Milford, Conn.).

In the second varsity race, Syracuse finished one-two with the second varsity eight finishing in first with a time of 5:56.3, while the third varsity eight crew was not far off coming in at 6:02.3. Dartmouth was third in 6:04.6.

Syracuse sneaked out a thrilling finish in the freshmen eight race with the Orange crossing the finish line in 5:56.06, while Dartmouth was just off the pace finishing in 5:56.7.

The Orange has concluded its regular season and will compete in its first of two postseason races on Sunday, May 21 at the Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Mass.
