SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Orange men’s soccer star and current member of the United Soccer League’s (USL) Montreal Impact Gabriel Gervais was selected to the 2006 All-USL First Division Team on Sept. 13. It was Gervais’ fifth consecutive first-team nod and he was one of four Impact players selected to either the first or second all-league teams.
Gervais, a defender, is the 10th player in USL history and the second Montreal Impact player to be selected to the league’s first team five times. He was named to the USL’S First Division Team of the Week six times in 2006 and started all 23 games that he played for a total of 1,988 minutes. Gervais, who became the seventh player in Impact history to reach the 10,000 minutes played with the club, also scored a goal on June 14, in a 4-1 win versus the Atlanta Silverbacks.
At Syracuse Gervais was a two-time captain and ranks third on SU’s career scoring list with 71 points. He averaged 1.25 points per game during his career, the third-best mark in school history. Gervais competed for the Orange from 1997-1999 and was a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team honoree. He also earned NSCAA All-Region first-team accolades in 1999 and second-team all-region honors in 1998.
