SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Orange men’s soccer star and current member of the United Soccer League’s (USL) Montreal Impact Gabriel Gervais has been selected to the 2007 All-USL First Team. It is Gervais’ sixth consecutive first-team nod. He is the fifth player in the history of the league to be named all-league six times and the first to do so in consecutive seasons.
In 2007, the Impact finished third in the First Division standings (14-6-8) and won the Voyageurs Cup, which is given to the top Canadian team in the league, for the sixth consecutive year. In addition to his inclusion on the 2007 all-league squad, Gervais has also been selected as a finalist for Defender of the Year for the fifth straight time. He won the award in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
At Syracuse, Gervais was a two-time captain and still ranks third on SU’s career scoring list with 71 points. He averaged 1.25 points per game during his career, the third-best mark in school history. Gervais competed for the Orange from 1997-1999 and was a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team honoree. He also earned NSCAA All-Region first-team accolades in 1999 and second-team all-region honors in 1998.
