NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate Jordan Davis’ second-place finish and time of 4:02.79 in the one-mile run at the Giegengack Invitational eclipses a 36-year Syracuse school-record of 4:04.30, established by Bruce Fisher in 1972. Senior Kyle Heath matched Fisher’s standard with a time of 4:04.30 and placed third.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate Jordan Davis’ second-place finish and time of 4:02.79 in the one-mile run at the Giegengack Invitational eclipses a 36-year Syracuse school-record of 4:04.30, established by Bruce Fisher in 1972. Senior Kyle Heath matched Fisher’s standard with a time of 4:04.30 and placed third.
The efforts from Heath and Davis qualify for the IC4A Championship. Heath improved upon his already-established qualifying time of 4:08.96, set at last weekend’s Penn State National Open. Davis’s time of 4:19.28 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge qualified for the BIG EAST finals.
The Orange received three additional BIG EAST and IC4A-qualifying performances from sophomore Dan Busby, sophomore Curtis Bixler and freshman Corey Robinson in the 3,000m run. Busby (8:22.17) placed ninth, and Bixler (8:26.87) and Robinson (8:27.91) finished 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Syracuse women’s charge was led by the first-year tandem of Rebekah MacKay and Katie Hursey in the 3,000m run. MacKay (9.58.62) and Hursey (10:06.10) each qualified for the BIG EAST Championship with sixth and eighth-place performances, respectively.
