PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse senior midfielder Shannon Taylor was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after rewriting the Syracuse records books during a 3-0 week. Senior goalkeeper Heather Hess earned BIG EAST Honor Roll accolades after making 19 saves in SU’s three victories last week.
It is the second consecutive week Syracuse had a BIG EAST Player of the Week and an honor roll member. Freshman back Anne-Sophie Van der Post was named the Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore forward Lindsey Conrad was named to the honor roll last week.
Taylor rewrote the Orange record books as she propelled Syracuse to a 3-0 week. Taylor recorded 13 points off six goals and one assist in SU’s three contests.
Taylor had four of Syracuse’s first 10 goals in the 12-0 win against Colgate on Sept. 2. The four goals tied the school record. Taylor added an assist on SU’s seventh goal of the evening, giving her a school-record nine points.
On Sept. 5, the senior tallied two goals, both off corners, in SU’s 8-3 win at Central Michigan.
She completed the week on Sept. 7 by limiting 10th-ranked Michigan State to one goal. Gwen Riley, who leads the Big Ten in goals, points and assists, did not register a point.
