
Girouard and Befort Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse University field hockey players Kristin Girouard and Maggie Befort were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in Syracuse's 6-1 victory versus Rutgers on Halloween. The honor was Girouard's first of her three-year career. Befort also earned accolades on Sept. 7.
Girouard scored two goals, including the game winner, as the Orange clinched the regular season BIG EAST title outright after defeating Rutgers 6-1 on Oct. 31. The Oak Hill, Va. native has played in all 18 games with 14 starts, registering 10 points off five goals (three game-winning goals).
Befort registered three points off a goal and an assist in Syracuse's win against Rutgers. Befort opened the scoring at 10:18, tipping home a ball off an Orange corner. The junior also provided the push on Syracuse's fifth goal of the day. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native is now Syracuse's all-time leading scorer with 101 points. She is also second on SU's career assist list with 43.
The Orange finished the regular season with a 16-2 mark. SU owns the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and will face No. 4-seed Providence at 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 in Providence, R.I.
