
SU Concludes Homestand Against Bearcats

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's basketball team will attempt to go 4-0 for the first time since 2004-05 when it concludes its four game homestand against the Binghamton Bearcats on Sunday, November 22 at the Carrier Dome at 2 p.m. The game can be heard on SU's flagship station WTLA 1200/1400 AM, or on Syracuse's student station, WJPZ 89.1 FM. The Orange has won 17 consecutive non-conference home games and is 23-8 in the Dome during the past three seasons. SU's last non-conference home loss occurred on December 22, 2006 to Canisius (56-48).
Last Time Out
Senior guard Nicole Michael recorded her 23rd career double-double in Syracuse's 74-66 win against Alabama State on Thursday, November 19 at Manley Field House. Michael scored 18 points and pulled down 14 boards in the victory, while junior guard Erica Morrow scored 20 points for her 16th career 20-plus point game. Freshman center Kayla Alexander rounded out the SU scorers in double-digits with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Michael Climbs SU Record Lists
Michael's 1,329 career points are 279 shy of the Syracuse career record, while her 747 rebounds are 180 shy of the top spot. She is currently fifth in points and sixth in rebounds, and her 347 free throws made rank second. Michael is fourth in career rebounding average (8.1) and tied for seventh on SU's blocked shots chart (74). She is also sixth all-time with 92 career starts.
Freshman Impact
Alexander has been a driving force in SU's undefeated record this season. She is averaging 11.7 points, 7.7 rebounds rebounds and a team-best 1.7 blocks. She has made 45.8 percent of her field-goal attempts, while averaging 19.7 minutes per game. She has surpassed the double-figure mark in each of the last two games, including 14 points against Presbyterian and 14 points against Alabama State. She led the team in rebounding in the first two contests of the year with eight.
Syracuse-Binghamton Series
The Orange holds the 8-1 advantage against the Bearcats in a series dating back to 1971. The Bearcats only victory came last season when it won, 74-52, on December 17, 2005 at the Carrier Dome. Michael led the Orange with 21 points in the teams last meeting.
Scouting the Bearcats
Binghamton has only played one game this season, where they lost 63-62 to St. Bonaventure. The team was led by senior guard Erica Carter, who netted a team-best 14 points in the season-opener. Sophomore point guard Andrea Holmes added six points, five assists, four rebounds, one block and one steal. The Bearcats were picked to finish third in the America East, its highest preseason prediction since the program joined the conference prior to the 2001-02 campaign. It returns 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's squad that finished 14-17. Holmes was named the 2009 America East Rookie of the Year, while current sophomore forward Viive Rebane joined her on the America East All-Rookie Team last season.
