
Bradley Voted Coach of the Year for the Second Time in Three Seasons

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Third-year head coach Ange Bradley was voted the BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year, the league announced at its annual field hockey awards banquet Friday night. Junior back Maggie Befort, freshman back Amy Kee, junior forward Lindsey Conrad and sophomore midfielder Martina Loncarica were all selected the league's first team.
This is Bradley's fourth coach of the year award in the past nine years. She earned also earned BIG EAST Coach of the Year honors in 2007 and Atlantic-10 Coach of the Year accolades while at Richmond in 2001 and 2004. In her third season as head coach for the Orange, Bradley led Syracuse to a 16-2 mark and a 6-0 record in league play, winning the BIG EAST regular-season title for the second consecutive year. SU faced one of the toughest schedules in the county as all but two nonconference opponents were either in the top-20 or received votes. The Orange knocked off a league-high seven ranked opponents in 2009. Bradley's teams have a combined 5-11 record during her three seasons.
Befort is Syracuse's all-time leading scoring with 101 points and currently sits second on SU's career assist list with 43. The junior was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll twice during the season and has recorded 25 points off nine goals and seven assists.
Kee was named the BIG EAST Offensive and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week once during her freshman campaign. Kee also earned ECAC Offensive Player of the Week honors as well as womensfieldhockey.com Rookie of the Week accolades. A four-time member of the BIG EAST Honor Roll, Kee has registered 28 points off nine goals and 10 assists.
Conrad ranks fourth on SU's all-time goals scored list with36 and sixth on SU's all-time points list with 89. Her 38 points this season rank tied for seventh on SU's single-season chart. The junior was named the BIG EAST Offensive and ECAC Offensive Player of the Week once during the season. She has tallied a team-best 38 points off a team-high 15 goals and eight assists.
Loncarica is Syracuse's all-time assists leader with 44. Her 82 career points rank ninth and her 13 assists this season rank tied for eighth on SU's single-season chart. The sophomore was named the BIG EAST Honor Roll once this season and was Syracuse's lone unanimous selection to the first team. Loncarica has recorded 17 points off two goals and a team-high 13 assists.
The fifth-ranked Syracuse Orange field hockey team (16-2, 6-0) plays Providence College (10-9, 3-3) tomorrow in the semifinals on f the BIG EAST Championship.
