
Rowan and Hall Earn Academic Honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Syracuse seniors Katie Rowan and Kyle Hall have been chosen as the 2008-09 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete institutional award winners. Rowan is a member of the women's lacrosse squad, while Hall is a four-year letterwinner on the Orange men's soccer team.
Rowan, a two-time team captain, has been a member of the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester and is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. Last season Rowan was selected to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Second Team and was an All-District First Team selection. She is studying inclusive and special education in the School of Education. Rowan enters her senior season as Syracuse's career leader in points (284), goals (178) and assists (106).
Hall was named to the Academic All-America All-District First Team in 2008 and is a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. In addition, he has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester. Hall is studying finance in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He was selected as the 39th overall pick in the 2009 Major League Soccer draft by Toronto FC.
Rowan and Hall will each receive $2,000 toward graduate studies as 2009 BIG EAST Scholar-Athletes.
