
Eight members of field hockey honored

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Eight members of the field hockey team were named to the 2008 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.
Junior Tracy Deitrick and sophomores Maggie Befort, Lindsey Conrad, Kristin Girouard and Lena Voelmle all made their second consecutive appearance on the team. Sophomore Kahli Vojkovic and freshmen Shannon Connolly, Giselle Schlegel, Anne-Sophie Van der Post, Mariana Vernet and Erika Wachter all represented Syracuse on the national academic squad for the first time in their collegiate careers.
For the fourth consecutive year the SU's field hockey team was also named as one of 65 NCAA Division I programs to earn the 2008 National Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for having a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and higher.
