
BIG EAST Best 13 Named All-Academic

The volleyball team had a BIG EAST best 13 student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team. Notre Dame shared the honor with the Orange. Emily Kaier and Brittany Kern earn the accolade for the fourth team. Kaier had a season high .600 hitting percentage against Siena. Kern tallied 13 attacks, with five kills versus Louisville in the BIG EAST Championship. Kacie MacTavish, Sarah Morton, and Annabelle Pellerin were named to the team for the third time. MacTavish is a biology major, Morton is a health and wellness major and Pellerin is a biology major. Marissa Kanemura, Mindy Stanislovaitis and Sarah Hayes and Hayley Todd earned the accolade for the second time, while Noemie Lefebvre, Erin Little, Hallie Morse and Ashley Williams where first time honorees.
Syracuse finished 17-15 overall and advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament for the second straight season. The Orange begins the 2009 season with four tournaments beginning the weekend of Aug. 28 when coach Jing Pu and his squad host the annual Big Orange Tournament in Manley Field House.
