Men's soccer defenseman Pete Hill (Pittsford, N.Y.) and women's field hockey forward Tracy Deitrick (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) have been named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the week for the week of September 14, 2009.
Hill has played in all five games for Syracuse this season. He registered an assist in SU's 2-1 win against Cornell. A senior majoring in finance in the Whitman School of Management, Hill will join fellow Orange men when they play host to BIG EAST rival Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 18 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The men's soccer team will stay home and continue conference action against Georgetown on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Deitrick is a senior on the women's field hockey team. She has played in four games for SU this season. Last year, she recorded two goals in a 16-0 victory at Georgetown. She earned NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad honors and has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team since 2006.
Deitrick is a surface pattern design major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The women's field hockey team will travel to play BIG EAST foe Louisville on Friday, Sept. 18. The team will stay in Louisville to face Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 19.
