
Befort Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse University field hockey junior back Maggie Befort was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance in Syracuse's games against No. 18 Ohio State and No. 7 Princeton last weekend. She recorded five points off two goals and an assist in the two games.
The junior provided the assist on the game-tying goal in SU's 3-2 overtime win against No. 18 Ohio State on Friday. Befort scored both of SU's goals in its 3-2 overtime loss to No. 7 Princeton on Sunday. She also had a defensive save versus the Tigers on Sunday.
A preseason BIG EAST First Team selection, Befort ranks first all-time at Syracuse in career assists with 27 and tied for seventh in career points with 81.
Befort and the Orange moved to 3-1 on the young season after going 1-1 last weekend. SU defeated the Buckeyes, 3-2, in overtime on Friday, but lost to the Tigers by the identical score in overtime on Sunday.
The Orange remains home next weekend for a pair of games. SU hosts Old Dominion on Friday, September 11, at 3 p.m. and Michigan State on Sunday 13, at 1 p.m.
