Late in the first half, Syracuse had an opportunity to even the score. Rutgers goalie Adam Klink made a lunging save on a left-footed strike by senior Justin Arena with less than two minutes to go. The rebound came to junior Federico Agreda who fired from close range. His shot ricocheted off Klink's chest up in the air. Junior #L.J. Papaleo# tried to bury the second rebound, but his volley sailed over the crossbar and the Scarlet Knights maintained their one-goal edge.
In the second half, Kamara finished a Bourdeau cross to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage in the 53rd minute. Salmon tacked on the final goal 20 minutes later when he headed a Brennan McNicoll corner past Orange redshirt senior keeper Jeremy Vuolo.
In addition to attempting 11 more shots than the Scarlet Knights, the Orange also held a 7-4 margin in corner kicks for the match.
Klink finished with seven saves to earn the shutout, while Vuolo made a pair of stops for the Orange.
