
Loncarica and Hahnefeldt Named to Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE – All-American Martina Loncarica and freshman back Laura Hahnefeldt were both named to the BIG EAST Weekly Field Hockey Honor Roll for their performances in Syracuse's 2-0 victory versus BIG EAST foe Villanova last weekend. It is Loncarica's fourth and Hahnefeldt's second BIG EAST accolade of the season.
Loncarica recorded her seventh game-winning goal of 2010 as Syracuse completed a 6-0 BIG EAST campaign. The All-American launched a shot into the bottom left corner of the cage 18 minutes into the game to give the Orange an early 1-0 lead. She has now recorded a team-best 26 points off a team-high 10 goals and six assists. She is also second on SU's career-points chart with 114.
Hahnefeldt led an Orange defense that held Villanova to only two shots and one penalty corner as Syracuse shutout Villanova 2-0. SU has held the opposition to just 19 goals and 157 shots and 99 penalty corners.
Loncarica, Hahnefeldt and the rest of the Orange (13-4, 6-0) travels to Storrs, Conn for the BIG EAST Championship at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex on the University of Connecticut campus on Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7. The Orange earned its third consecutive and seventh overall BIG EAST regular-season title and is the No. 1 seed. Syracuse will face No. 4-seed Rutgers on Sat., Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.
