SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse tennis team is on the road this weekend to take on two conference opponents in hopes of keeping their undefeated streak in the BIG EAST alive. The Orange is 3-0 so far in conference play and will take on Providence Saturday, March 27 in Rhode Island and Connecticut on Sunday, March 28th in Connecticut.
Orange on a Roll
The Syracuse tennis team is on pace to surpass last year's success, as it's
currently on a seven-game win streak and undefeated in conference play.
The Orange stand at 13-2 for the season (3-0 in the BIG EAST), with six
matches remaining in the regular season. Last season, the Orange completed
one of their most successful seasons, compiling a 16-7 record and going 9-2
in the BIG EAST.
Newcomers Making an Impression
Senior transfer Eleanor Peters and freshman CC Sardinha are donning the
Orange for the first time this season but have wasted no time in making
an impact for the squad. Peters has compiled an impressive 13-2 singles
record and ascending from playing at the No. 4 spot to the No. 2 spot, most
recently against Binghamton. Sardinha has tallied a 9-4 singles record and
launching herself from the No. 6 position at the start of the season to the No.
1 spot, most recently against Cornell.
Double the Fun
The Orange have won the doubles point in 11 out of 15 dual matches so
far this season. The success can be attributed to strong pairings across the
board. The best doubles record comes from the duo of sophomore
Alessondra Parra and senior Eleanor Peters with a 6-1record.
The Orange returns home on Wednesday, March 31st for a rescheduled match against Army. The action starts at 12:00 p.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Center. Check SUAthletics.com for all of this weekend's results.
