The defending BIG EAST Field Hockey Champion Syracuse Orange will conclude its spring schedule with its annual alumni game at J.S. Coyne Stadium on Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. Alumni and friends of the field hockey family are also invited to join the team for a barbeque to honor the 2009 BIG EAST undefeated regular season champions. Please contact assistant coach Lynn Farquhar if you are interested in participating or attending.
“I very pleased with the growth of our team this spring,” head coach Ange Bradley said. “We had a very demanding schedule and I am proud of all of our 19 players' commitment and dedication to the process.”
The Orange finished its nontraditional spring season with a 2-1 victory versus Princeton to capture first place in Rutgers spring tournament. SU also played Connecticut, Rutgers and Villanova while in Piscataway, N.J. SU defeated Duke, 2-0, in the Old Dominion tournament to advance to the championship game where it lost to North Carolina, 2-1, two weeks ago.
“I am excited to welcome our six newcomers and fifth-year senior Kim Coyle back to the squad in August,” said Bradley. “We have a good base to build upon and I am very inspired to work with this team. They are fun and eager to grow. We are very excited for the fall season.”
