PHILADELPHIA – Four Syracuse players will suit up for the Philadelphia All-Stars in its exhibition game against the U.S. Senior National Team on Friday, June 18 at Lehigh University. Rising seniors Joel White, Josh Amidon, John Lade and rising sophomore Brian Megill are part of an elite group of players put together by the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association to challenge Team USA.
Faceoff is slated for 8 p.m. at Lehigh's Banko Field in Bethlehem, Pa.
White was a 2010 Tewaaraton Award finalist as national player of the year and a first-team All-American. He led the Orange with 78 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers to spearhead an SU squad that led the nation in scoring defense. White also tallied six goals and four assists on the year.
Like White, Lade was also a first-team All-American. He started all 12 games he played on close defense and was second on the team with 22 caused turnovers. Lade also collected 32 ground balls.
Amidon was the Orange's highest scoring midfielder in 2010. An honorable mention All-American, he totaled 27 points on 14 goals and 13 assists.
Megill is one of the top young defenseman in the game. He started all 15 contests for the Orange as a true freshman this past season and registered 39 ground balls.
Friday's game is the second of three exhibitions for Team USA before it leaves for Manchester, England and the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, which gets underway July 15.
Former Syracuse greats Ryan Powell and Mike Leveille are members of Team USA. Orange alum Matt Abbott is one of the squad's alternates.
