Susek Garners ECAC Weekly Honors

Syracuse field hockey senior forward Heather Susek continues to earn weekly honors. After a five-point performance last weekend in which she was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Susek has also been named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Susek had two goals and an assist in two Syracuse wins last weekend. On Friday at Villanova, Susek scored the game-winning goal with 3:22 left in regulation on a backhand shot from the right side. On Sunday against Bucknell on Senior Day, Susek scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute and assisted on SU's second goal late in the first half.
She finished the regular season tied the team and BIG EAST lead with 17 goals, lead the team and conference in shots (75) and was second on the Orange and BIG EAST in point (40). She is 24th in the nation in points per game (2.11), and tied for 19th with teammate Kelsey Millman in goals per game (0.89). She is tied for sixth on Syracuse's all-time list in career goals with 35 with Martina Loncarica and is 10th all-time in career points with 84.
The Plains, Pa. native was also named the Syracuse Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Monday. Susek is a back-to-back BIG EAST All-Academic Team member, and has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of the past four semesters.
Syracuse will host the BIG EAST Tournament this weekend at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The Orange, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will play No. 3 Villanova at 3:00 p.m. No. 1 seed Connecticut and No. 4 Louisville with square off in the early game at 12:30 p.m. The winners of the semifinal games will move on to the championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
