SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse looks to remain undefeated in conference play this weekend as the team hosts two BIG EAST opponents, Villanova and West Virginia. Both matches will take place at the Drumlins Tennis Center and are free of charge.
Syracuse Undefeated in BIG EAST Play
So far this season, the Orange has remained undefeated against conference opponents. The team owns a 3-0 record in the BIG EAST after defeating Georgetown (5-2), Seton Hall (7-0), and Cincinnati (6-1). Syracuse went a perfect 7-0 against conference challengers last season.
Home Sweet Home
The Drumlins Tennis Center has proven to be a tough setting for Syracuse opponents this season. So far this season, the Orange owns a 6-0 record at home. The team also went undefeated on its home turf last season with a 9-0 record and Syracuse is an impressive 35-5 at home under head coach Luke Jensen.
Harman and Kobelt Harmonious in Doubles
Junior Emily Harman and freshman Maddie Kobelt provided one of the bright spots in the team's 6-1 loss to Boston last weekend by clinching their sixth doubles win this season as a doubles pair. The duo has a 6-2 doubles record and have played at the No. 1 spot for all but one of the team's matches.
Kobelt Making Noise
Freshman Maddie Kobelt gave Syracuse its only point against Boston last weekend and solidified her status as one of the team's best contributors. With the victory, the New Albany, Ohio native improved her singles record to 7-2 on the season and is tied for a team-best 13-5 overall record.
Kalhorn One Away from 90-win Milestone
Senior Simone Kalhorn is approaching yet another career milestone. Kalhorn is one victory away from crossing the 90 overall wins threshold. So far this season, Kalhorn owns an 11-5 overall record, including a 6-1 singles mark, and is third on the team in that category. In her career, Kalhorn has earned an 89-67 overall record.
