SYRACUSE, N.Y. - After a brief return home, the Syracuse tennis team hits the road again this weekend for a three-match road swing in as many days. The team visits West Point to take on Army on Friday afternoon before taking on BIG EAST foes St. John's on Saturday and Rutgers on Sunday. The road trip doesn't end there for the Orange, they travel south next weekend for a two-match trip against Old Dominion and William and Mary. The team is looking to improve upon its 24record on the road so far this season.
Beasts of the BIG EAST
The Orange have been making waves in the BIG EAST so far this season, remaining undefeated in conference play and compiling a 5-0 record against conference opponents. The 'Cuse has already earned victories over Georgetown (52), Seton Hall (70), Cincinnati (61), West Virginia (70) and Villanova (70). Additionally, Syracuse has outscored its conference opponents by a 323 margin. The team's undefeated streak will be put to the test again this weekend against St. John's and Rutgers.
Dynamic Doubles Duo
Junior co-captain Emily Harman and freshman Maddie Kobelt have been a dominant force for the Orange at the No. 1 doubles spot so far this season. The pair has a 122 record when playing together, including a current eight-match win streak at the top spot.
Harman Crosses 90-win Milestone
After her singles and doubles victories against Villanova on March 23, Emily Harman has crossed the 90-win threshold for overall matches in her career. The junior Petersburg, W. Va. native has the second most overall wins on the team and trails senior Simone Kalhorn (96).
Kalhorn Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week
Senior co-captain Simone Kalhorn was named Orange Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 14. Kalhorn is a psychology major and a two-year captain of the squad. The Colorado Springs, Colo. native currently owns a 96-72 overall career record and the team's best singles record (11-2) so far this season.
