
Orange Tennis Hits the Road Again

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse tennis team will travel to Philadelphia this weekend for a dual match against Temple. The match, which will be held at the TTU Pavillion, will be the Orange's fourth road contest of the season. Syracuse, while remaining undefeated at home, owns a 1-2 road record so far this season and an 8-2 overall mark.
Kobelt Off to Impressive Start
Freshman Maddie Kobelt is having an impressive first season with the Orange. Already, the New Albany, Ohio native has a team-best 8-2 record in singles and is tied for first in doubles with a 7-3 record. Overall, Kobelt has a 15-5 record so far this season. Kobelt has switched between playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions and has played at the No. 1 doubles spot with Emily Harman for eight straight matches.
Syracuse Remains Unbeaten in BIG EAST Play
With its 7-0 win over West Virginia last weekend, Syracuse has moved to 4-0 against conference opponents so far this seaosn. The Orange began its BIG EAST streak by beating Georgetown (5-2) in Washington, D.C. and then notched wins over Seton Hall (7-0), Cincinnati (6-1) and then West Virginia (7-0) on its home court. SU has dominated each opponent, outscoring conference competitors, 25-3. Last season, the Orange was a perfect 7-0 against BIG EAST foes in the regular season. Syracuse, while remaining undefeated at home, owns a 1-2 road record so far this season and an 8-2 overall mark.
Lucky Number Three
The No. 3 singles spot has brought luck to the Syracuse squad in its 2011 campaign. So far this season, the team has gone 9-1 at the No. 3 position with three different student-athletes contributing wins. Maddie Kobelt has a 4-0 record at the spot, Emily Harman a 4-1 record and Christina Tan has a 1-0 record while at the No. 3. As a team, the Orange are 43-18 (.705) overall in singles so far this season.
Home Sweet Home
With its win over West Virginia last weekend, the Syracuse tennis team has remained undefeated at home for 19 consecutive matches. The Orange is 7-0 so far this season and SU's last loss on home turf dates back to Feb. 22, 2009, when Syracuse lost a 4-3 match to Iowa State. Head coach Luke Jensen is 36-5 all-time at home. Syracuse puts the win streak on the line at its next home match on March 10 against Cornell.
