
Nine Field Hockey Athletes Earn National Academic Recognition

SYRACUSE - The Syracuse University field hockey team had 10 members named to the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.
Senior forward Lindsey Conrad, senior back Kim Coyle, junior midfielder Shannon Connolly, sophomore back Iona Holloway, sophomore forward Kelsey Millman, sophomore back Erika Wachter, freshman forward Adrian Chambers, freshman midfielder Leonie Geyer and freshman back Laura Hahnefeldt all represented Syracuse on the National Academic Squad.
It was Conrad's fourth straight honor. Connolly and Wachter earned recognition for the third year in a row. Holloway and Millman earned honors for the second straight season.
For the sixth consecutive year, the Syracuse University field hockey team has been named as one of 52 NCAA Division 1 programs to earn the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for having a team cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 and higher.
The Orange won its third straight BIG EAST Regular Season Championship in 2010 and won the BIG East Tournament Championship. SU ended its season with a 16-5 record after a second round loss in the NCAA Tournament. It marked the third consecutive season the Orange won an NCAA Tournament game.
